A Little Bit About Awesome Cavy Stud
My love of cavies began when I was given an Abyssinian sow for my 7th birthday in 1997. I was fascinated by this beautiful animal, and very soon had two. In a few months, two became four. As my number of pets grew, so did my love and interest in them. I read countless books, asked countless questions and dug up all the information I could find, and am now fairly confident in my cavy knowledge! My aim as a Registered Breeder is to produce the healthiest, highest quality Rex, Abyssinian and Sheba Miniyak cavies in Victoria. I hope to raise interest in the Sheba breed and promote responsible breeding and excellent cavy care.
My ideal breeding plan -
Abyssinian - Roan and Tri-colour with 8-10 rosettes, all in line, and a wonderfully coarse coat.
Rex - Agouti colours (silver, cream, lemon, chocolate and cinnamon) as well as Tri-colours - fuzzy, firm and very coarse.
Sheba Miniyak - Pure white and Himalayan in PE (pink eyed) and DE (dark eyed). I aim for messy, luxurious yet coarse coats with plenty of rises and body, large mutton chops and big, droopy ears.
As for the origin of "Awesome", it has always seemed to be my catchphrase. When something is good, it's awesome. Hopefully people will say that about my cavies!
